There is speculation surrounding the reported “drone swarms” in the north-eastern United States that some foreign power, be it China or Iran, may be using the drones to spy on the US. It seems surprising that if the objective is to secretly surveil US infrastructure, that these drones are lit up like Christmas trees.
The claims about the current “drone swarms” reminded me of the furore over the Chinese spy balloon that was shot down by US military aircraft in 2023, after drifting across Alaska and the entire US mainland with a sophisticated spy platform suspended from it.
